Born from curiosity, refined through experience
ROODE Boards began with a simple question: What if we made a kiteboard ourselves? Not as a business plan. Not as a grand vision to change an industry. Just pure curiosity from someone who loved being on the water and wondered what it would take to build the board that makes that experience possible.
That question led to a workshop in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. A space that slowly filled with high tech machines, testing equipment, and the constant sound of a small group of highly driven people learning through trial and error. Setting up a production line is challenging because some of the machines needed to make kiteboards simply do not exist. They had to be designed and built from the ground up. Every mistake became a lesson. Every improvement opened new possibilities. Fueled by determination, persistence, and perfectionism.
From idea to reality
What started as a personal challenge grew into something more meaningful. After years of developing, testing, redesigning, and refining, the boards began to perform at a level that matches established brands. The difference? These boards are not designed in meeting rooms or mass produced in distant factories. They take shape here in Eindhoven, where we keep every part of the process in our own hands.
That hands on approach does more than improve performance. It gives us the chance to ask bigger questions about how we build and what impact it has. Building ROODE Boards from the ground up gave us a unique opportunity to do things right from the very beginning, and that mindset has stayed with us. Especially when it comes to sustainability.
More than a board
ROODE Boards is about a way of working where learning and improving never stops. Our first goal was to build boards that could compete with what was already on the market. We achieved that, but we are not finished. We have ideas and innovations in development that go beyond what currently seems possible. No big promises, just steady work on what we believe matters most: durable, technically advanced boards that lift your performance on the water.
Durability, however, is not only about strength and speed. It is also about designing products that last, that are made with care for the planet, and that remain within reach for riders. These demands are not easy to balance. High performance, long lasting quality, and responsible production often pull in different directions.
With every new board or product we create, we search for that balance again. We are not perfect, and we are okay with that. For us, sustainability is not a destination. It is a process that requires honesty, ongoing reflection, and constant improvement.
